As technogoly advances faster and faster, you may want to sell your phone, give it away, get a new phone or perform a factory reset to fix a technical issue. Its always a good idea to do a factory reset if you are gifting your phone to a family memeber or selling it as you want to make sure none of your personal data is comprimised.
Before you wipe any data from your phone you MUST first back it up, otherwise you may loose your important data like contacts, photos, videos and your calenday. Check out our tips on how to do this righthere. Once you’ve backed it up, you’re then ready to complete the factory reset.
Depending on what type of phone you have, the instructions will change.
How to reset your iOS phone
1. Go to Settings
2. Select General 3. Tap Reset 4. Tap Erase All Content and Settings 5. Enter your lock PIN (if applicable) 6. Tap Erase iPhone
Once the phone has been reset, you will be taken to the initial set up screen and given the option to restore your data from a backup. You can complete the reset by connecting your phone to iTunes and selecting “Restore iPhone” in the summary screen.
How to reset your Android phone
Depending on the type of Android you have, you may have two options to perform the reset.
Go to Settings
Go to Privacy or Backup and Reset
Scroll down and select Factory Reset
If your phone has an SD card, select whether you want to format the SD card as well
Tap Reset Phone.
Tap Erase Everything
You’ll be directed to the initial set up screen to restore your backed up data. You can also back up data using the phone’s manufacturer software.
How to reset your Windows Phone
Depending on the type of Windows phone you have, the instructions may vary.
Go to Settings
Tap Reset your phone
Tap yes twice
You’ll see the initial set up screen after your phone has been reset.
