Pixel 4a and VoLTE

Does anyone know if Boost supports VoLTE on the Pixel 4a?

I have a Boost SIM that has VoLTE activated and when I put it in my old phone I can see the optio to turn VoLTE on.  With my old phone I see a VoLTE icon at the top of the display to show that it is turned on.

When I put this same SIM into my new Pixel 4a there is no option to turn on VoLTE and there is no icon at the top of the screen.

Is there something that needs to be done to enable this?

Is there anybody at Boost able to answer this question?

It sounds like something in missing from the phone (as you said that you have VoLTE working on another phone model via the same sim). Similar reports are found via Google from many countries, and seem to suggest something in the firmware needs activation to make it visible to work (by the carrier).

Was the phone bought through Telstra? Or seperately?

Thanks  pvandenh

I bought the phone from JB HiFi.

I've had a long discussion with Google's Pixel support team and they have no idea.  They sent out a brand new replacement Pixel and it's exactly the same.

I'm starting to wonder whether Telstra have enabled the Pixel 4a model to use VoLTE.

There is nothing from the carrier side to enable a specific phone model for VoLTE.

But there are carrier specific settings that must be included in the phone firmware. When Telstra sells a model phone, they work with the manufacturer to ensure those settings are included by default (that may mean carrier specific firmware though).

But when not purchased through the carrier, then it is up to the phone manufacturer to include those settings.
