activating a sim

My husband bought a $2 sim and when he phoned to activate it, he was told Boost would have to send him a blank sim which would take 5 days to arrive. What is the point of selling $2 SIM cards if they can't be used?

Re: activating a sim

It is only needed to be sent a blank sim IF porting an existing number over from a Telstra account. For all other networks or providers (or for new number activations without porting over your old number), the normal $2 sim works fine. It will likely be much quicker than 5 days. Metro areas normally are 1-2 days until received. Maybe 3 days if regional.
