Activating new sim

Hi all,


I recently decided to join Boost prepaid.


I'm currently with Optus on a month to month plan.


I got a new boost sim, activated it, and I selected I wanted to keep my number.


Do i need to wait for the porting process to be completed before I purchase the prepaid plan?


How long does this process take?

Porting is typically completed within 2 hours, however, can take up to 24 business to be completed in some cases (depends on how quickly it is processed by the other carrier, in this case optus, and if the details are all right). 


Your optus service should continue to work until the new service activation is completed, you should be able to reacharge in the interim but it may be worth just waiting and doing it then so you can benefit from the full time.
