So you are aware of the roaming rate, for Vietnam it is $2 per minute (to receive calls from Australia). This rate is also counted for the duration of calls to diverted to voicemail while your phone is turned on.

And SMS from Vietnam cost $0.65 each.

So $5 will only last you ~2.5 minutes worth of calls, and even less if you have sent some SMS.

It's quite frustrating boost mobile didn't have the facts about overseas cost you pay $5 as it disappears within seconds. If anyone is going to vietnam, better to get for $6 3gig a day uninvited text and phone calls, plus 10 minutes to Australia. Local sim is the way to go with Boostmobile

For reference, the international roaming rates for the various supported countries are listed on thie Boost website.

https://boost.com.au/international/

I think it is not cheap for roaming on any prepaid sim card. If possible, getting a local sim card in the country is the cheaper way. Boost also says this on the roaming details of the URL above = "If you’re planning on using your phone a lot, sometimes it’s better to grab a local SIM when you arrive."

Vodafone and Optus have $5 a day plans and you get same service as Australia. Its a shame Telstra and Boost don't have the same service

That will be available only on their postpaid plan offering.

Boost doesn't have any postpaid plans. Boost is prepaid only.

Telstra have some $5 and $10 daily roaming options, but again those are only offered on their postpaid plans.

Unfortunately with over 2 hours of phone conversation with Boost Customer Support, the service centre couldnt get my mobile phone calls or sms working in Vietnam.

Advise to get Vietnam mobile pre paid if your there. Only cost $6/month for 3Gig a day and unlimited calls
